A very clever public space planner saw Madrid’s Rio highway and decided this had park potential. And Viola! – there were long and wonderful walkways, on two sides of a lovely river (down which you can try and scull), and on the banks of which you can walk, jog, run, cycle, Segway, or just stroll with your romantic interest. You can rent the cycle and segways nearby (try neary Segovia bridge). There are lots of cafeterias, restaurants, benches and shady spots. It’s one of they city’s favourite family hangouts.
